How it works

  1. Upload your image.
  2. The target is already set to 50 KB. Click Compress.
  3. Download the best result that fits in 50 KB.

For strict forms

A 50 KB cap is common on strict forms and application portals. A portrait or a scanned document usually reaches it with smaller dimensions and slightly lower quality, and stays readable.

Supported formats

JPG / JPEG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC / HEIF photos (AVIF and GIF open too). HEIC photos are saved as JPG, which every site accepts. PNG has no quality setting, so a PNG can only get smaller by losing pixels; for a much smaller file, JPG usually looks better.

If 50 KB can’t be reached

The File Work lowers the quality first and then the dimensions, within safe limits: it won’t go below a sensible quality or shrink the image to a few pixels. If 50 KB would need that, it tells you instead of giving you a ruined image. When getting under 50 KB visibly lowers the quality, it shows you both versions so you can choose.

Questions

Can I compress an image to exactly 50 KB?

Never over 50 KB, and usually just under it, because it keeps the best quality that fits.

Will image quality change?

Only as much as needed. If good quality won’t fit, the image also gets smaller in pixels, and the result tells you what changed.

Does it work with HEIC?

Yes. iPhone photos open directly and are saved as JPG.

Is my image uploaded?

No. It’s compressed in your browser, on your device.

What happens if 50 KB can’t be reached?

You’ll be told before you download, instead of getting a ruined image. Try a larger limit, or crop the image first.
